Anniversary Celebration: A History of Triad

Triad Fluid Power, Inc. was established by Lee and Rita Wissman on August 1, 1981 as a distributor of Parker Hannifin fluid connector products in Englewood, Ohio. Though Triad Technologies now has over 25 locations in five states, we aim to never forget our roots as a small family business. We work hard each day to remember where we came from, and to always provide our customers with the same level of quality service and individual attention we promised when we first opened our doors. In celebration of our anniversary, we wanted to recount all that we have been through to make Triad Technologies into the company it is today.
When first established in Englewood, Triad Fluid Power was small, family-owned shop whose business included the sale of miscellaneous industrial products with a personalized touch. In 1984, three years after they first opened their doors, Lee and Rita’s son, Doug Wissman, also joined the company, helping their business to continue to grow.
In 1988, Triad opened its first branch location in Cincinnati, Ohio expanding the company's geographic footprint. During this time, we also added pneumatic and hydraulic product lines to our offerings, making us a full-line Parker Fluid Power distributor. In 1994, business had grown beyond the original location’s capacity, and Triad expanded into a new 18,000 sq. ft. facility in Englewood, OH and opened its first ParkerStore, setting the stage for future expansion.
In 2001, Doug Wissman was appointed Chief Executive Officer and President of Triad, setting him up to lead the company through a period of transformative growth. This included overseeing a name change in 2002 from Triad Fluid Power, Inc to Triad Technologies, LLC, which better reflected the company’s expanded products and services. Doug also oversaw the company’s move to a larger facility in Vandalia, Ohio in 2008, as well as a facility expansion in 2020 as business continued to grow.
From 2000 to 2022, Triad experienced a season of rapid growth with ParkerStore openings in Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan, Illinois and Indiana, as well as several acquisitions, including Air-Draulics, Inc. (2002); Midwest Fluid Power, Co. (2002); Pennington Rubber Co (2012); Mega Fluid Products, Inc. (2015); Rilco Industrial Controls, Inc. (2017); E&M Automation Equipment Co. (2017); Cincinnati Controls, Inc (2017); Cincinnati Hose & Fittings, Inc. (2018); Kentucky Fluid Air, Inc. (2018); Day Fluid Power (2019); Maverick Industries (2020); and Industrial Service Products (2022). During this time, Triad was able to add motion control, automation, and industrial hose product lines to their already expansive product offerings.
In 2016, Greg Wissman, Doug’s son, also joined the Triad team and in 2023, Greg was appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of Triad. At the same time, Doug Wissman stepped down to become Chairman of the Company’s Board of Directors.
Today, Triad remains a family owned and operated value-added distributor of fluid power and automation solutions. Though we have seen significant growth over the last 40 years, we never forget the time when we were a small business in Englewood, Ohio. We would like to thank our customers, partners, and team members for providing the support we needed to grow into the company we are today, as well as thank the Wissman family for making it all possible. We look forward to continuing to grow and provide our customers with the support they need to keep things moving.
